Roller Coaster Recce Run by DTR

About the Event

On Sunday, September 27th, 2026, runners have the opportunity to explore the Rollercoaster Run course through The Dandenongs Trail Runners' 'Rollercoaster Recce' practice run. This self-supported event is designed as a valuable preview for those gearing up for the main competition.
The meet and briefing will begin at Kalorama Memorial Reserve from 7:00 am, setting the stage for an early start to your exploration of this challenging terrain. The event concludes by 11:30 am back at the same location, offering ample time to assess the course and prepare mentally and physically for race day.
Runners can choose among several loop options tailored to their pace:
- A local 8km loop
- A more adventurous 12km 'Mad Mouse' loop
- For those seeking a full challenge, there's the 23km 'Original' route. Additionally, participants in this longer distance will be invited to join one of four paces: Wombats (Slow) - 3:30 – 4 hours; Possums (Medium) - 3:00 – 3 hrs 20 mins; Kangaroos (Fast) - 2:40 – 3 hrs; and Emus (Super Fast) - sub-2:30 hours.

- Mandatory gear requirements will ensure your safety throughout the run.
- Assistance is available if you need to abandon the race for any reason; however, please be aware that there may not always be immediate support on hand.
Safety measures are in place with ambulance cover provided during the event. Additionally, dogs are not permitted within Dandenong Ranges National Park boundaries.
