Copper Harbor Mountain Biking Festival - A Non-Competitive Adventure Presented by Wilde Bicycle Co. & Rock Solid Trail Contracting, the Copper Harbor Mountain Biking Festival is set to be an unforgettable experience for both experienced and seasoned mountain bikers alike. Spanning two days of exhilarating rides through some of the world's finest trails, this festival offers a unique blend of technical challenges and scenic beauty. On Friday evening, participants can enjoy shuttle runs from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM using services provided by Keeweenaw Adventure Company. These shuttles will transport riders along select routes, perfect for those looking to ease into the weekend's activities or explore the area in a relaxed manner. Saturday brings a full day of riding on a big loop trail system that showcases the best single track trails available. The route covers approximately 43 miles but also offers a shorter 22-mile option, allowing riders flexibility based on their preferences and physical condition. Expect to encounter a mix of machine-built flow trails, rocky old-school tight single tracks, double-track sections, and gravel roads. Highlights include challenging yet manageable technical features interspersed throughout the course, particularly in the first half where one section is marked as black-level difficulty but remains navigable with some effort. The second half offers less steep climbs and fewer technical obstacles, making it more suitable for newer riders or those looking to conserve energy for a longer ride. Aid stations will be strategically placed along the route, including an aid station at East Bluff, ensuring that all participants have access to support when needed. For those who prefer not to camp on-site, Copper Harbor offers various accommodations such as motels and Airbnb options. The festival kicks off with registration from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Friday at Trails End Campground. Shuttle services will operate until 8:00 PM for an evening sunset ride from Trail's End to the top of Flow, encouraging riders to bring their own lights and beverages. On Saturday morning, a mandatory riders' meeting is scheduled at 8:45 AM followed by a rollout at 9:00 AM. The day will culminate with dinner hosted by Chef Adam Blake at Trails End Campground featuring organic vegetables grown on-site, along with a lively party that continues into the evening. Copper Harbor itself offers more than just mountain biking; it's an idyllic destination for outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds. With its picturesque lake swimming spots like Fanny Hooe and stunning natural surroundings, Copper Harbor provides exceptional sightseeing opportunities in addition to adventure sports. The town’s remote feel adds to the overall experience, making it a truly unique setting. For those looking to camp on-site, Trails End Campground is conveniently located at the heart of all activities. Cabins can be reserved or accessed as first-come, first-served campsites. Each site includes fire rings and picnic tables, with pump tracks also available for fun activities. Camping fees are $20 per site per night. The festival partners include Rock Solid Trail Contracting, Trails End Campground, East Bluff Bike Park, Copper Harbor Trails Club, Keweenaw Mountain Lodge, Angry Catfish, Wilde Bicycle Co., and Northern Coffeeworks, all working together to ensure a memorable experience for everyone involved.
