The Run for Hope 5K returns annually on October 24th to Jacksonville's vibrant Riverside Park. This cherished community event commemorates the life of Tristan Klepzig, a beloved student who tragically passed away while running late last autumn. The race kicks off at Adams Street near downtown, offering runners scenic views along the St Johns River and lush greenery.
On race morning, expect cool, crisp temperatures around 71°F (21.8°C) with comfortable humidity levels of 77.7%. The course is renowned for its fast and flat terrain, perfect for both seasoned athletes and newcomers alike. Spectators are encouraged to line the route; years of tradition have cultivated a warm atmosphere that makes this event truly special.
This year's edition continues to benefit from support by Auld & White Constructors (AWC), a community-focused construction firm in Jacksonville. The 5K course follows well-maintained paths, starting at Riverside Park’s main entrance on Adams Street near downtown. Runners will enjoy picturesque views of the St Johns River before looping back through the park's tranquil surroundings.
Aid stations are plentiful and designed to keep runners hydrated throughout the race. All participants receive moisture-wicking shirts as a token of appreciation for their participation. Upon crossing the finish line, runners can savor cinnamon rolls—a signature treat honoring Tristan’s mother—and other refreshments including coffee and snacks.
Chip timing ensures accurate results, while live updates are available throughout the event to keep everyone informed. For those who may not run a full 5K, there's also a 1 Mile Fun Run option offered at $39.44 for registration fees that open on October 2nd. Early bird registration is available until October 1st.
On race day between 7 AM and 7:30 AM, participants can pick up their bibs from the main entrance of Riverside Park located on Adams Street in downtown Jacksonville. The Run for Hope remains a community event dedicated to remembering Tristan Klepzig through running, cinnamon rolls, and friendly competition. With its well-organized setup and heartwarming atmosphere, this race is an absolute must for anyone who appreciates such an inspiring event.
