Run for Breast Cancer 5K/10K/13.1 KANSAS CITY

Run for Breast Cancer returns to Kansas City on August 29th in a city that unites its community under the banner of support and awareness. The race spans three distances: the 5K, the 10K, and the half-marathon (21K), each offering runners from all walks of life an opportunity to make a difference.
Race morning finds participants gathering at the picturesque KU Sports Park, located in the heart of downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The park's sprawling green spaces provide a vibrant backdrop for this annual event, with its lush trees and well-maintained pathways enhancing the atmosphere of unity among runners and spectators alike. This year marks the sixth consecutive year that Run for Breast Cancer has brought together thousands of participants who have collectively raised over $100,000 in support of breast cancer research and local families affected by this disease. With participation numbers growing every year, this event stands as a testament to the resilience and compassion of its community.
The course winds through KU Sports Park, offering a challenging yet rewarding experience for both seasoned runners and newcomers alike. The 5K and 10K routes traverse hard and dry surfaces, providing ample opportunities for personal bests. At the start line, runners will find themselves grouped in waves based on their desired pace, with Wave A scheduled at 7:30 AM sharp. The course layout ensures a smooth transition from start to finish, culminating back at KU Sports Park where participants can enjoy post-race refreshments and camaraderie.
Elevation changes are minimal but noticeable, particularly for the half-marathon route which includes slight inclines that test runners' endurance. Along the way, there will be no aid stations as this is a stress-free run focused on supporting each runner's unique goals. Despite the high UV index of 7 (High), participants should still apply sunscreen and stay hydrated throughout their journey.
The race offers distances for all: from the 5K to the half-marathon, with options like the Family 1 Mile Fun Run available as well. Participants can choose between running in person or virtually, both offering the same spirit of community engagement.
