Run for Newmarket 2026

The 4th Annual Run for Newmarket Charity Run returns to Fairy Lake Park on Sunday, Oct 5th, 2025, in support of Southlake Foundation.
Fairy Lake Park, situated at 520 Water St, offers a serene setting where participants can enjoy the natural beauty and tranquility. On race morning, the air will be crisp with temperatures hovering around 13°C to 16°C, ideal for both runners and walkers. The park's well-maintained trails provide a perfect backdrop for this community event.
This charity run has been a tradition since its inception four years ago. Over 500 participants have joined in the past three editions, raising funds that support essential services at South Lake Regional Health Center. Every runner or walker contributes to making Newmarket a healthier and more compassionate place.
The race offers a 1K Family Fun Walk, a 3K Run, and a 5K Run. The course venue is Fairy Lake Park, where the terrain is firm but slightly soft, offering a smooth run experience for all participants. The start line is just off the main entrance of Fairy Lake Park, with runners setting out from there to complete their chosen distance.
The race layout includes notable features like the picturesque trail around Fairy Lake and the scenic views of the park's greenery. The 5K route includes two laps through the park before concluding at the starting point. There are no aid stations during this event as it is a flat, continuous course with no significant elevation changes.
On race morning, expect temperatures to range from 13°C to 16°C, which can feel slightly chilly despite being quite pleasant. The UV index of 4 indicates moderate sun exposure; runners and walkers should apply sunscreen and wear appropriate clothing layers as needed.
