Springbank Park offers a serene setting with its lush green spaces and winding trails. On race morning, the park will be bustling but calm, with participants gathering from various parts of London, some even walking or jogging along the nearby streets before making their way to the starting line. The atmosphere is welcoming and inclusive; families can enjoy the 1K Community Walk while runners choose between the 5K walk/run, timed for those who wish to compete in a non-timed option.
This event is Run for Resilience's first annual race, reflecting Embodied Resilience Wellness Clinic’s belief that movement, connection, and community care belong together. Over 300 participants are expected this year, showcasing the growing support from the local community for accessible mental health services. The cause matters deeply; by participating or fundraising, you help increase access to counselling services for low-income neurodivergent individuals.
The race offers a variety of distances: the 1K Community Walk is designed to be accessible and family-friendly, followed by both timed options—the 5K walk/run and the 10K run. Each distance has its own unique features within Springbank Park's layout, with notable route features such as scenic paths through the park’s forested areas.
Participants can start their journey from the central gathering point at the park entrance on London Street, facing east towards downtown London. The course is a mix of paved and gravel surfaces, offering a challenging yet enjoyable run through the autumn foliage. There are no aid stations along the route; however, spectators are encouraged to cheer participants on.
Weather for the day can be expected around an average temperature of 12°C with humidity at 74%, making it feel quite comfortable. The wind speed is typically between 8 and 16 km/h, which should not significantly affect performance. Precipitation risk is low but always possible given the unpredictable nature of autumn weather.
