The Water Bridge Run, marking its 20th anniversary, is set to take place on November 8 in Austin, Texas. This beloved race supports the Gazelle Foundation's mission of providing clean water to Burundi and stands as a significant highlight in Austin’s fall calendar. Participants begin their journey at Zilker Park, greeted by a festive atmosphere with live music and local crafts vendors. The course weaves through vibrant neighborhoods west of downtown, offering scenic views along its path that pass the University of Texas campus. This year marks two decades since Run For The Water first united thousands to support clean water initiatives. Since 1996, over 5,000 runners and walkers have participated annually on this date, making it a cornerstone of Austin’s community spirit. Each step contributes directly towards improving lives in Burundi by providing access to clean drinking water—a fundamental human right that impacts health, education, and economic opportunities. In addition to the main 5K run, participants can also choose between the challenging 10 Miler or the shorter Kids K for younger runners. Distances may vary but all routes support this year’s goal: raising funds for clean water in Burundi. The course features a manageable yet engaging terrain with smooth asphalt roads and slight elevation changes. Runners will be treated to notable points such as the University of Texas campus, providing unique backdrops throughout their journey. Alongside the scenic route are two aid stations offering water and snacks to keep participants energized. On race day, weather conditions typically include mild temperatures at 18 degrees Celsius with a humidity level of 67%, creating brisk yet comfortable running conditions. A light breeze of around 12 kilometers per hour adds a slight chill but does not significantly impact performance. Participants should prepare appropriately by dressing in layers and staying hydrated. The event kicks off early, with participants gathering at Zilker Park starting at 8 AM. Registration fees are as follows: $46.39 for the 5K run, $79.57 for the 10 Miler, $13.18 for Kids K, and $35.32 for the Global Virtual Run. Bibs can be picked up on November 7 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Zilker Park with a confirmation email and photo ID required. For those unable to join in person, the Global Virtual Run allows participants worldwide to contribute by running their own course while still supporting this important cause. Join us for an event that drives global change and brings local communities together for a common purpose: clean water for Burundi. Be part of the legacy that has transformed lives through every step on this course, and help make a difference in 2026.

About Austin
Learn more about the host city, Austin.
Austin is a city of about 965,000 people (2021) on the southeast edge of the Hill Country region of Texas, making it the fourth-largest city in the state and the 11th-largest in the country. It is the capital of Texas and a college town, and also a center of an alternative culture away from the major cities on the US coasts, though the city is rapidly gentrifying with its rising popularity. Austin's attitude is commonly emblazoned about town on T-shirts and bumper stickers that read: "Keep Austin Weird." Austin is also marketed as the Live Music Capital of the World due to the large number of venues.
