Run FORE Cancer

Run FORE Cancer returns to the picturesque Scottsdale Silverado Golf Course, marking its fourteenth year as a celebration of resilience and hope in the face of cancer's challenges. The race offers runners the chance to honor loved ones while contributing to vital research and patient care through donations to the University of Arizona Cancer Center.
Participants can choose from three engaging distances: an 8K loop that takes you around the scenic golf course, a more manageable but equally rewarding 5K route, or a gentle one-mile walk designed for survivors. The event begins and concludes at the Silverado Golf Club’s clubhouse, offering runners stunning views of the Arizona landscape as they navigate cart paths winding through lush greens.
In its early years, Run FORE Cancer was established in memory of Kathy Maxwell, who lost her battle with sarcoma cancer on December 14, 2012. Since then, it has evolved into a broader tribute to those affected by cancer, each runner carrying the weight of personal stories and shared experiences along their journey.
All finishers receive custom event medals and dri-fit tech t-shirts as tokens of appreciation for their support. Age group awards are given out in various categories at both the 8K and 5K distances (excluding virtual runners), celebrating top performers across different age brackets from 8 & Under to 80+ years old.
The day’s festivities kick off with a pre-race “Athlete's Brunch,” featuring granola bars, fruit, water, and other refreshments. The event is chip-timed by StartLine Racing, ensuring accurate results available in real-time on their website along with race photos. Course maps are provided to guide runners through the well-marked paths of Silverado Golf Club.
Race day registration starts at 6:00 AM for those unable to pick up packets beforehand, though online pre-registration is recommended to secure your preferred shirt size and ensure a smoother experience. The event welcomes wheelchair users and strollers but strictly prohibits pets on the course or in the event area due to safety concerns.
On September 27th, runners will gather at Silverado Golf Club for an early morning start: the 8K run begins at 7:00 AM, followed by the 5K starting at 7:10 AM and the one-mile walk beginning promptly at 7:25 AM. An awards ceremony is scheduled to commence around 8:00 AM.
