Run Happy 5k

Starting at Longwood Park in downtown Lewes, the event offers a vibrant atmosphere with its picturesque setting. Early morning on race day finds runners and walkers gathering along the tree-lined streets leading up to the park. The air is crisp and cool as participants prepare for an energetic start.
Since 2014, Run Happy 5K has grown from just over one hundred participants each year to a community staple that brings together families and friends in support of those with Down syndrome. This event not only raises funds but also fosters inclusion and understanding within the local area.
The race offers both competitive runners and walkers a challenging yet rewarding course through Longwood Park, featuring a hard and dry surface ideal for performance. The 5K route weaves around the park’s perimeter, offering scenic views of nature before concluding at the finish line near the main entrance. A notable feature is an aid station located mid-race to ensure runners stay hydrated.
On race morning, expect temperatures in the high twenties Celsius with a comfortable feel due to low humidity and gentle winds. However, UV index levels are expected to be quite high, so sun protection will be crucial for all participants. Precipitation risk remains minimal at 2.8mm on average, making it safe conditions overall.
