Experience the magic of Madison's Christmas-themed Run Santa Run on December 6th. This beloved annual race offers three exciting distances for all levels of runners: the 5K, 10K, and half marathon. The journey begins at Madison Square Park, adorned with twinkling lights and festive decorations, as participants embark on a scenic route through the heart of downtown.
Runners will weave through historic streets, passing by bustling Market Street and the picturesque Madison Riverwalk, where an ice-skating rink adds to the holiday atmosphere. Christmas music plays softly along the way, enhancing the winter wonderland vibe. The course offers a mix of firm and slightly soft terrain with gentle elevation changes, providing variety in your run.
The race has been a cherished tradition since 2013, drawing over three hundred participants each year who contribute to the community's holiday spirit while supporting local children’s charities. Finish near the town square where you can enjoy holiday treats such as candy canes and gingerbread cookies at an aid station.
Race day weather is typically crisp with temperatures ranging from a low of 3°C to a high of 12°C, accompanied by light winds averaging around 11 km/h and humidity levels hovering at about 72%. Despite the slight risk of precipitation up to 2.8mm, organizers ensure runners are prepared for any conditions.
Registration is available online through https://raceroster.com/events/2026/115605/run-santa-run-madison-huntsville with fees starting at $44.90 for the 5K and rising to $66.35 for the half marathon, including a free bib number. Early bird registration closes on November 1st.
Bibs can be picked up in person from December 5th from 3 PM to 7 PM or before race start time at Madison High School (100 S Main St, Madison AL 35758). Bring a photo ID for verification. Gather early at the starting line in Madison Square Park.
