Embark on an authentic mountain running odyssey at the 2026 Run the Berg, taking place on Saturday, 3 October 2026. Set in the majestic heart of South Africa's mightiest range, the Drakensberg, this event offers four epic trail races designed to challenge and exhilarate runners of all levels. From the fast and fun RTB 13km single-track to the "Beast" of the Ultra 65km, which features monster climbs and ±2,600m of elevation gain, participants are treated to a pure mountain experience characterized by technical terrain and unrivaled views of the iconic Amphitheatre and Little Berg.
The Run the Berg series is a race of diverse challenges; the RTB 25km provides a technical first half followed by supremely runnable single-track, while the Marathon 42km rewards athletes with a high-altitude showcase of the region's spectacular peaks. Every distance is supported by world-class safety protocols and fully-stocked aid stations, ensuring that even in the wildest sections of the mountain, runners are well-cared for. With a generous 16-hour cut-off for the Ultra and a professional organization that prioritizes the spirit of trail running, this event remains a pinnacle fixture on the South African mountain racing calendar.
The adventure extends beyond the trails at the festive All Out Adventures Race Village, located at Moeggestap Farm near Bergville. This family-friendly hub serves as the perfect base for the weekend, offering a vibey atmosphere filled with activities for spectators and finishers alike. Whether you are aiming for a personal best on the fast descents or simply seeking to conquer the vertical challenges of the Drakensberg, the 2026 Run the Berg promises a wild and wonderful adventure at the very best of African trail running. Secure your entry now and prepare to face the mountain.
