Run Wild 5K

The Orange Festival of Footsteps is set to captivate runners and nature enthusiasts alike on November 7th, with the eagerly anticipated return of this unique race through Irvine Regional Park and into the OC Zoo. This year's edition promises an unforgettable blend of physical exertion and educational wonder.
Participants will gather early in the morning as the first light casts a warm glow over Irvine Regional Park. The climate is mild, ranging from 11.7°C to 22.7°C, providing ideal conditions for a comfortable run amidst nature’s splendor. The atmosphere buzzes with excitement, uniting runners and zoo visitors who share this special day.
Since its inception in 2018, the Orange Festival of Footsteps has grown into a cherished community event, drawing over two hundred participants annually. These dedicated runners contribute significantly to supporting the Foundation's mission of caring for injured or orphaned animals. As you traverse Irvine Regional Park before entering the OC Zoo, encounter majestic black bears, jaguars, mountain lions, bald eagles, kit foxes, ocelots, beavers, and great horned owls. The firm yet slightly soft terrain is peppered with an average wind of 6.6 km/h.
The course gently ascends before descending back into Irvine Regional Park for the finish line. Two strategic aid stations ensure you stay hydrated throughout your journey by offering water and snacks. Upon crossing the finish at the zoo entrance, all participants receive complimentary admission to explore more of its inhabitants.
Weather predictions suggest an average temperature around 17.2°C with a slight chill due to humidity levels at 59.2%. With wind averaging about 6.6 km/h and low chances of light rainfall, bring waterproof gear for added comfort. The race offers both the 1K Run/Walk and the more challenging 5K Run/Walk.
Registration is open online through https://raceroster.com/events/2026/130462/run-wild-5k at a fee of $32.61, with registration closing on November 7th. Bibs can be picked up from October 31st to November 7th between 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM at the Orange Community Center located at 450 W Chapman Ave., Orange, CA.
