Running of the Squares Brownwood

This is the first race of The Villages 2026-27 Running of the Square series.

Date: Saturday, October 17, 2026

Time: 8:00AM Start

Distance:  5K (3.1 mile) fun run

Pre-Registration is $25 until Sunday, October 11.
Registration after October 11 and through day of event is $40
Fee includes t-shirt and registration packet.  T-shirts available while supplies last.
*** The first 1,400 registrations get a custom Brownwood 5K race bib. ***

Pre-Registered Packet Pick Up:
Packet pick up will be on Friday, October 16, from 8:30am to 4:00pm at La Hacienda Regional Center, 1200 Avenida Central, The Villages, FL 32159. Packets will also be available at the race site the morning of the event starting at 7:00am if you are not able to make it to early pick up on Friday. You may also have a friend or family member pick yours up if you are unable to do so.

Race Day Packet Pick Up:
Next to the finish line by West Torch Lake Drive and Brownwood Boulevard..

Race Start and Finish Times:
The race will start promptly at 8:00am.  We request all participants to cross the start line by 8:05am.  No late starts.  The start line will close at 8:05am in order to prepare for our participant finishers.  Local law enforcement and public safety have requested that the roads and multi-modal paths be reopened by 9:10am.  Participants who have not finished within 70 minutes may be asked to move to the sidewalk so that the roads can be reopened for local residents.  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this matter as well as the patience of the local residents affected by the closures along the course path.

Safety:
In-line skates, bounce boots, skateboards, and dogs on leashes will NOT be allowed on the race course. If you are pushing a baby jogger/stroller in the race, you accept full responsibility and understand for safety reasons you are to start at the back of the starting coral.

Finisher Medals:
All participants that complete the race will receive a custom event finishers medal!

Overall Awards:
1st Place for the 'Best Time' in the Men's and Women's Categories

Age Group Awards:
14 & under,  5 year increments to 90+

Team Place Awards:
1st , 2nd and 3rd Place
