Embrace the beauty of Vermont’s trails at RUTFest, the Sixth Annual Richmond Ultra Trail Festival. This unique and community-driven event invites runners and hikers to explore Catamount Outdoor Family Center for an entire 36-hour period, with a bonus hour added due to Daylight Savings Time adjustments. The festival features two scenic trail loops—each approximately three to four miles long—that wind through the picturesque landscapes surrounding Camel's Hump and Mt. Mansfield. Participants are free to run or walk these trails at their own pace, looping as many times as they wish throughout the weekend. The event is designed for a relaxed atmosphere where runners can push themselves without the pressure of competition. Entry into RUTFest operates on a donation-based system, ensuring inclusivity and allowing participants to contribute what feels fair to them. Those unable to make a donation should contact Premlinskey@gmail.com; they will be provided with a complimentary entry voucher to enjoy the event fully. All registered runners are encouraged to volunteer for an hour at the aid station and bring along snacks to support their fellow trail enthusiasts. The main aid station serves as both a starting point and a place of refuge, where participants can check in whenever needed throughout the weekend. The loops alternate between north and south sides of Catamount Outdoor Family Center, offering varied terrain and stunning views with each lap completed. Participants are free to come and go at their leisure, but safety is paramount—please inform volunteers when leaving for any extended period. For those aiming high, RUTFest offers a special recognition: completing 100 miles earns you an exclusive buckle as a testament to your achievement. The event kicks off on Saturday, October 31st, starting at 6 AM and concludes Sunday, November 1st, wrapping up by 6 PM. Stay connected with the Richmond Trail Running Club via Facebook and Instagram for updates leading up to RUTFest. Whether you're looking to challenge yourself or simply enjoy a leisurely weekend on the trails, this event promises an unforgettable experience in Vermont’s lush outdoors.
