The RVN3 Bubba Run is an inspiring community event that celebrates the legacy of Richard Vernon Nielsen III, affectionately known as Bubba. Organized by the RVN3 Foundation, this race aims to raise funds for local students who are passionate about sports and education, supporting their academic goals alongside athletic achievements. Bubba's life was a testament to his dedication to sports—whether it was soccer, basketball, track, football, golf, wrestling, or snowboarding. His commitment to excellence both on the field and in the classroom set an example for others to follow. The RVN3 Foundation honors this spirit by promoting education through athletic endeavors. Participants can expect a range of activities including a 5K run, a 1-mile run/walk, and a fun Kid's Dash. All finishers receive custom event medals and dri-fit tech t-shirts as part of their race day experience. Age group awards are given to the top three in each category for the 5K distance. The race takes place at Rim County CrossFit in Payson on August 2nd, with registration starting early that morning. The atmosphere is lively and supportive, featuring a pre-race "Athlete's Brunch" complete with granola bars, fruit, water, and other refreshments to fuel runners before the start. The event offers chip timing for accurate results and ensures all participants are chipped so times aren't affected by where they line up on race day. Wheelchair users, strollers, and leashed pets are welcome, though safety guidelines require them to begin at the back of the starting corral. In addition to the races, there's a special Phat Man Run, which is essentially a 40-yard dash from the start line to Macky’s Grill post-race. This adds an extra layer of fun and community spirit to the event. Race day registration begins at 6:00 AM with awards presented around noon for those who qualify in their age groups. The RVN3 Bubba Run is more than just a race; it's a celebration of youth, sportsmanship, and academic ambition that brings people together for an unforgettable morning of competition and camaraderie. The event not only honors the memory of Richard Vernon Nielsen III but also encourages young athletes to strive for excellence both in their athletic pursuits and educational endeavors. Join us on August 2nd at Rim County CrossFit in Payson, Arizona, where every stride contributes to a brighter future for local students.
