The Scottish Auto-Cycle Union (SACU) invites aspiring road racers to participate in its New Rider Road Race Training and Assessment Day. This exclusive opportunity is extended only to those who have been invited by SACU, ensuring that all participants are prepared for the rigorous demands of competitive racing. Your journey begins at Knockhill track with a classroom session starting promptly at 3:30 PM. Here, you will receive comprehensive training on road race rules and regulations, as well as invaluable insights from experienced instructors. Following this theoretical component, practical assessments await to test your skills in real-world conditions. To ensure a seamless experience, please complete the New Rider Training Entry Form thoroughly before attending the event. Bring along your completed form, including all essential personal details such as address, phone number, and emergency contact information. These forms will be reviewed by Bill on site, who will also provide you with your Rider Assessment pack for the day. Upon successful completion of both classroom training and practical assessments, you'll receive a provisional licence from SACU's office staff. This document remains in 'Pending' status until after you have completed all required evaluations. In preparation for the assessment day, ensure that your motorcycle meets strict compliance standards as outlined by ACU Standing Regulations available on the SACU website: - Your bike must be track-compliant. - Sump plug and oil filter should be lock wired securely. - Use only water; antifreeze or other coolants are prohibited. - Fit a front brake lever protector to enhance safety. - Taped glass components like headlights and indicators prevent potential hazards during races. - Remove side and main stands for optimal performance on the track. - Install a rear rain light as required by regulations. - Wear one-piece leathers with an ACU gold-stamped helmet, along with visible identification bearing your name and date of birth. A SACU scrutineer will inspect all motorcycles before any practical assessments begin. Bikes that meet these stringent requirements receive a sticker allowing them onto the track for assessment; non-compliant vehicles are not permitted to race without exception. For further guidance or assistance regarding road racing, please contact the SACU Office directly via their website at www.sacu.co.uk where you can find detailed rules and regulations. Your participation in this training day is your first step towards a rewarding career as a competitive motorcyclist within the Scottish Auto-Cycle Union community. About West Lothian
Learn more about the host city, West Lothian.
West Lothian is one of the 32 council areas of Scotland, bordering the City of Edinburgh council area, Scottish Borders, South Lanarkshire, North Lanarkshire and Falkirk. The modern council area was formed in 1975 when the historic county of West Lothian, also known as Linlithgowshire, was reshaped substantially as part of local government reforms; some areas that had formerly been part of Midlothian were added to a new West Lothian District within the Region of Lothian, whilst some areas in the north-west were transferred to the Falkirk District and areas in the north-east were transferred to the City of Edinburgh District. In 1996 West Lothian became a unitary authority area, using the same name and territory as in 1975.
