SACU New Rider Assessment Knockhill (September)

About the Event

The Scottish Auto-Cycle Union (SACU) invites aspiring motorcycle racers to participate in their New Rider Road Race Training and Assessment Day, scheduled for September 3, 2026. This exclusive training session is designed specifically for those who have been invited by SACU to enhance their skills and knowledge before entering the competitive world of road racing.
Participants are required to arrive at Knockhill Racing Circuit no later than 3:30 PM on race day with a completed New Rider Training Entry Form in hand, which includes essential personal details such as address, phone number, and emergency contact information. This form must be fully filled out prior to attending the training session. Upon arrival, riders will begin their journey by participating in classroom instruction at 3:30 PM.
Following the theoretical component of the day, participants will undergo a practical assessment on track. It is crucial that all motorcycles meet specific compliance standards as outlined in the ACU Standing Regulations from the SACU website and handbook. Key requirements include:
- Sump plug and oil filter must be lock wired.
- No antifreeze or other coolant; only water should be used.
- Front brake lever protector must be fitted.
- Any glass components like headlights and indicators need to be taped to prevent splintering.
- Side and main stands must be removed from the bike.
- A rear rain light is mandatory on all bikes.
- One-piece leathers and a helmet bearing an ACU gold stamp are required.
All motorcycles will undergo inspection by SACU scrutineers before being allowed onto the track. Bikes that meet these requirements will receive a sticker indicating compliance, while non-compliant vehicles will not be permitted to participate in any training activities on race day.
Upon successful completion of both classroom and practical assessments, riders will receive their provisional licence from Bill at Knockhill Racing Circuit. This license remains pending until after the assessment is completed. For additional information or assistance with road racing requirements, participants are encouraged to contact SACU’s office directly.
This comprehensive event provides a rigorous yet supportive environment for new racers to develop essential skills and knowledge under professional guidance.
