Saintfield Race Series: A Scenic Run Through Northern Ireland's Countryside The Saintfield Sports Club presents the annual Saintfield 5k and 10k races, inviting runners of all levels to experience the picturesque landscapes around Comber Street. With a cap of just 500 entries, this event offers an intimate setting where participants can immerse themselves in the beauty of Northern Ireland's rolling hills. Number collection for the race takes place at Saintfield Sports Club on Friday, October 16th from 5:30 to 7:00 PM and again on Sunday, October 18th between noon and 1:30 PM. The races themselves commence with a ceremonial start; runners in the longer distance event take off first at 2:00 PM followed by the shorter race beginning promptly at 2:15 PM. Both courses are officially measured and certified for accuracy, providing athletes with reliable distances to aim for during their run. All participants will receive bespoke medals along with stylish buffs as part of their finisher's gear. For those who cross the line in first, second or third place among both genders, there is an additional incentive: cash prizes await. Age category awards are also up for grabs, recognizing runners from various age brackets (U30, 30+, 40+, 50+, 60+ and 70+) with their own set of accolades. However, it's important to note that there will be no duplicate prizes handed out; placements are determined strictly by official gun time. The event welcomes young runners as well, setting a minimum age requirement at 11 years old for the shorter race while participants in the longer distance must be at least 15 years of age. A special club trophy is awarded to the team with the highest number of entries when online registration closes on October 10th. To ensure safety and fairness during the event, runners are reminded not to wear headphones except those designed for bone conduction. Additionally, buggies and dogs are prohibited from joining in this year’s race. For participants looking to make last-minute changes to their entry information such as name corrections, please be aware that updates can only be made up until 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 11th. A portion of every registration fee will go directly towards supporting Brainwaves NI, adding an extra layer of purpose and community involvement for those who take part in this year's Saintfield Race Series.
