The Samar 4 & 8 Miler takes place on the beautiful Wolf River Trails, the same fast and flowing trails used during the Mamba 100. Expect mostly single track dirt trails that are flat, smooth, and extremely runnable for all experience levels. Whether you are brand new to trail running or a seasoned runner looking for a fast effort, Samar is designed to be fun, welcoming, and beginner friendly while still offering a great challenge. With generous cutoff times, a well-marked course, and an energetic atmosphere, this race is all about having a great time on the trails. Many runners consider the Wolf River Trails to be some of the cleanest and fastest dirt trails anywhere, and Samar may very well be one of the fastest single track trail races in the Southeast. The Samar 4 & 8 Miler is also the perfect tune-up race as you begin preparing for your upcoming fall race season.
Packet pickup will take place Friday, July 17 from 4:00–6:00 PM at the Start/Finish line, which is at the Wolf River Refuge Trailhead. Packet pickup will reopen on race morning beginning at 6:00 AM.

The race will be held in the summer months and Memphis is very hot and humid. Each race will start at 7am. Caution is required when running these races. Memphis also experiences summertime storms and these can be short-lived or very damaging. The RD has the right to postpone or cancel the race due to weather. We will do everything we can to get the race in at 7 am but safety of runners are our #1 priority.
There are only 60 paved parking spots at the Wolf River Refuge Trailhead and they will fill up quick. Additional parking will be in the grass at the back of the parking lot and on the sides. If parking in the grass behind the parking lot, please back in so your car is ready to drive out when you leave. This will allow us to park the most amount of cars here. If you can commute with another runner, then that will help with parking.
