Experience the beauty and tranquility of Memphis, Tennessee with the Samar 4 & 8 Miler trail race along the Wolf River Trails. This scenic course offers runners a unique blend of flat, smooth single-track dirt trails that are both beginner-friendly and challenging enough to attract seasoned athletes seeking a fast time.
The event is set for early morning on July 17th, starting at 7:00 AM sharp from the picturesque Wolf River Refuge Trailhead. The race course features well-marked turns with orange ribbons and flags guiding runners through its flat terrain, making it ideal for those who are new to trail running as well as experienced racers looking for a quick pace.
Packet pickup is available on Friday evening between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM at the start line. Race morning packet pick-up begins promptly at 6:00 AM, allowing ample time before the race starts. Participants are encouraged to arrive by 5:30 AM to secure parking in one of the limited spots near the trailhead.
The aid station is located at the Start/Finish area and serves both hydration and snacks for runners throughout their journey. Watermelon slices, soft drinks, cooling towels, and additional trail treats will be available post-race as a treat for all participants. Runners should plan to carry their own cups or flasks since this race operates without disposable cups.
The Wolf River Trails are renowned among local running communities for being exceptionally clean and fast. The Samar 4 & 8 Miler is one of the fastest single-track trail races in the Southeast, making it a perfect tune-up event before the fall racing season begins.
Awards will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers as well as age group winners after race timing has been processed. Runners should bring their own lawn chairs for post-race relaxation at the start/finish line area.
For those looking to extend their stay, RV camping is available nearby with full amenities including sewer connections, electrical hook-ups, water supply, and restrooms. Additional hotel accommodations are also close by in Germantown, TN.
