ScaryAss 25K/14K/4k

About the Event

Get ready for the ScaryAss & Fright in the Forest run, an eerie yet delightful autumn adventure set to take place on October 31, 2026. This race offers three distance options that cater to runners of all ages and abilities: a challenging 25k loop through scenic trails, a shorter but equally enchanting 14k route, and a family-friendly 4k course designed for younger participants.
The 25k journey winds along the Lost Valley/M&M/McKenny trail loops, starting at Fall Creek Day Use Area. This longer distance provides runners with an immersive experience through Capitol Forest's dense woods and varied terrain. The 14k route follows a similar path but covers less ground, offering a slightly easier challenge for those seeking something more manageable.
For the little ones, there’s also a kid-friendly 4k option that ventures onto some mountain bike trails known for their playful "whoop de whoops." This shorter course is perfect for introducing young runners to trail running while keeping things light and fun. All participants are encouraged to dress up in Halloween costumes and join in on the festive spirit.
The race day starts early, with the 25k and 14k races kicking off at 9 am sharp from Fall Creek Day Use Area. The shorter distance event begins an hour later at 10 am. Participants should note that this is a low-key affair without aid stations along the route; therefore, it's essential to bring your own water and snacks.
Once you've crossed the finish line, stick around for some post-race treats including pumpkin pie prizes for top finishers and best costumes, warm soup, candy bags, and an inviting fire pit. The Fall Creek Day Use Area provides a cozy setting where runners can mingle with fellow participants over hot beverages and share stories from their runs.
The race location is easily accessible via Sherman Valley Road, leading you through Capitol Forest’s gravel logging roads to the heart of the forested day use area. If you're traveling in a sedan or similar vehicle, be prepared for slow going on these rougher stretches but know that it's perfectly manageable with care and patience. Camping spots are available at Fall Creek Day Use Area if you want to spend the night before the race.
Dogs are welcome as long as they’re well-behaved and leashed during the event. Just remember to clean up after your furry friend and be respectful of other runners sharing the trails.
Join us for a memorable Halloween run that combines thrilling trail adventures with an atmosphere filled with spooky fun, delicious treats, and warm camaraderie among fellow racers.
