Welcome to ScoCo50, presented by Sun Trail Running—a scenic trail running event set within the picturesque Scott County Park, located just north of Davenport and I-80. This unique race offers runners three distances: 50 kilometers, 10 miles, and a shorter 5-mile option for those looking for an introduction to trail racing.
Scott County Park is renowned for its diverse landscape, featuring both wooded trails through lush forests and open prairies with rolling hills. The park's extensive network of paths offers runners a forgiving yet challenging course that caters equally well to beginners as it does to seasoned ultrarunners seeking personal bests on the trail.
The 50k race unfolds over three laps, each lap offering approximately nine-tenths of a mile in elevation gain and traversing mostly dirt and grass trails. The shorter distances—10 miles and 5 miles—are single-loop courses that provide runners with a taste of the park’s varied terrain without the endurance challenge of multiple loops.
Aid stations are strategically placed along the route to ensure participants stay hydrated and fueled throughout their journey. One fully stocked station is located at the start/finish line, while another provides essential hydration and basic nutrition around the halfway point for longer distances. Drop bags can be stored here as well, but crew access is limited solely to this area.
Registration for ScoCo50 opens early with a deferral option available until August 14th should unforeseen circumstances arise that prevent your participation. Given the unpredictable nature of summer weather in the Midwest, participants are advised to prepare thoroughly for potential heat and sun exposure during their race day experience.
The event kicks off at 7:00 AM sharp for the 50k runners, followed by a start time of 8:15 AM for those tackling the shorter distances. All races have clear cut-off times designed to ensure safety and maintain an enjoyable pace through this scenic park setting.
Scott County Park extends far beyond its trails; it offers ample opportunities for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike with playgrounds, volleyball courts, a fishing pond, swimming pools complete with water slides, as well as modern campgrounds.
