The Seaside Showdown Series invites runners of all levels to experience the beauty and challenge of coastal trails along Newfoundland’s rugged shoreline. This series, comprising four distinct races, offers an immersive trail running adventure designed for those who crave scenic routes and a tight-knit community atmosphere. Each race in the Seaside Showdown Series is set against breathtaking backdrops that include historic Fort Amherst, serene Deadman's Bay Path, picturesque Cape Spear, and the captivating Mickeleen’s Path. The series kicks off with the Fort Amherst to Blackhead Race, a 10K journey through winding coastal paths where participants can expect stunning ocean views and challenging terrain. To ensure runners are well-prepared for their adventure, organizers provide detailed GPX files upon request, allowing you to download and follow the route on your Garmin or other GPS devices. Joining the Strava Club is also highly recommended as it offers access to all race routes and enables participants to connect with fellow racers before and after each event. Race day begins early at 8:10 AM for check-in between Fort Amherst’s starting line, where volunteers will be stationed to assist runners. Parking information can be found online; carpooling is encouraged to minimize congestion around the start area. The race itself starts promptly at 9:00 AM. Registration and bib numbers are non-transferable out of respect for other participants on the waitlist or those who have committed to the event. Should you need to switch your registration to another Seaside Showdown Series race, organizers will accommodate this with sufficient notice. In case of cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances, refunds (minus service fees) or rollover registrations are available. The series aims to foster a sense of community among runners while providing an excellent training ground for the province’s larger events. Each event offers a unique experience that showcases Newfoundland's diverse coastal landscapes and trails, making it a must-attend series for trail running enthusiasts. The Seaside Showdown Series is more than just races; it’s an opportunity to connect with nature and fellow runners in one of Canada's most picturesque settings.
