Selworthy Beacon Fell Run – Sunday, 19th July 2026 Registration: 8:30 AM - 9:45 AM Start Time: 10:00 AM The Selworthy Beacon Fell Run is a traditional challenge that takes place on the rugged moorlands of Exmoor. Participants will traverse approximately four miles, ascending and descending around 1000 feet to reach the summit of Selworthy Beacon and back down again. The race begins at Bossington National Trust car park and follows an off-road route through Hurlstone Combe before reaching the beacon's trig point. The course features compulsory checkpoints located at the bottom of Hurlstone Combe, atop Selworthy Beacon itself, and once more near the base of Hurlstone Combe. These points are integral to ensuring that all runners adhere to a safe and navigable route across Exmoor’s open terrain. Experienced fell runners will appreciate the self-navigation aspect of this race, which requires no course markers—only your map and compass skills. Marshals will be present at key checkpoints to assist with directions but getting slightly lost is part of the adventure here on Exmoor's untamed landscape. After crossing the finish line back in Bossington National Trust car park, runners can enjoy refreshments from Really Wild Coffee setup within the race area. Prizes are awarded for first male and female overall winners as well as top performers across various age categories. This year’s sponsors have generously provided hats to all category champions. A special prize will also be given to the first man and woman who reach Selworthy Beacon's summit, but they’ll need to carry it back down themselves! Entry fees are £12 for Fell Runners Association members and £14 for non-members. On-the-day entries are welcome if spaces remain available. Race day parking is provided at Bossington National Trust car park; however, participants are encouraged to carpool as the space can be limited due to public access on race morning. Additional parking options include areas near Selworthy Beacon or within Porlock, with a short walk required to reach the start line. Participants must adhere to mandatory kit requirements based on weather conditions announced at registration. For more information and detailed route maps, visit the South West Fell Runners & Fell Runners Association websites. Join us for an exhilarating day of fell running amidst Exmoor's breathtaking scenery and rich traditions. See you there! Registration: 8:30 AM - 9:45 AM Start Time: 10:00 AM
