September Saunter 2026 invites you to explore the scenic beauty of Wensleydale on Saturday, September 19th at 9:00 am. This family-friendly charity walk offers two circular routes through rolling hills and picturesque landscapes, catering to both seasoned walkers and those looking for a more leisurely experience.
The longer route spans an impressive distance of 13.6 miles, winding its way along the charming trails around Leyburn. For shorter distances, there's also a welcoming 5.7-mile option designed to encourage family participation; children under 16 can join this walk free when accompanied by an adult. Both routes are well-marked and marshalled throughout their course, ensuring that all participants stay on track.
Walkers will gather at Wensleydale School for registration where ample parking is available before making their way to Grove Square as the starting point of both walks. Throughout the event, refreshment points along each route provide essential hydration and sustenance, with a hearty spread of sandwiches and cake awaiting everyone upon completion back in Leyburn.
Showers are also provided at Wensleydale School for post-walk relaxation. The entire walk is limited to seven hours, allowing ample time to enjoy the stunning scenery without feeling rushed. All participants will receive certificates on finishing their chosen route, marking a memorable day of exercise and charity support.
