Join us for the Mike Fraser Memorial Short Track Race, a heartwarming fundraiser held annually in Salem County to support Mike Fraser's ongoing battle with autoimmune hepatitis (AIH). Since opening Sneakers & Spokes in Woodstown, NJ, and founding the Salem County Reactors Composite mountain bike team back in 2016, Mike has been instrumental in fostering the growth of youth mountain biking within the community. His dedication is evident through his years-long organization of events like Shred the Edge and summer short track races at Camp Edge. Tragically diagnosed with AIH in 2021, Mike's journey to recovery required strict adherence to medical advice and lifestyle changes. However, by August 2025, he faced more severe complications necessitating weekly paracentesis for fluid drainage from his stomach (ascites). His healthcare team at Jefferson Hospital and Inspira Mullica Hill has been committed to managing these challenges, leading them to recommend the TIPS procedure in April 2026. This innovative treatment aims to improve Mike's quality of life by reducing the frequency of paracentesis appointments. This event is your opportunity to contribute directly to his care through participation or support. We are thrilled to host two categories: CAT 1/2 at 9 AM and CAT 3/4 starting at 10:15 AM, each covering approximately 2 miles. Mike himself will design the course, ensuring a challenging yet rewarding ride with some hills along the way. Pre-ride and check-in commence at 8 AM until 8:45 AM to allow ample time for preparation. The race promises an exhilarating experience amidst Salem County's scenic landscapes, offering participants a chance to honor Mike’s legacy while making a positive impact on his life. Top 3 male and female racers in each category will be awarded prizes, celebrating both skill and generosity at this meaningful event. Your support is crucial not only for Mike but also for the broader community he has inspired through his passion for cycling.
