On Sunday, February 7th, 2027, runners are invited to take part in the Sidmouth 4 Trigs Trail Race, a challenging and scenic 17-mile journey through some of Devon's most captivating landscapes. The race starts at 9:30 AM from the flagpole opposite the Watersports Hub on the east end of Sidmouth’s promenade. The course is designed to test navigational skills as participants must visit four designated trig points in order: Weston Cliff, Buckton Hill, Beacon Hill, and High Peak. While runners have the freedom to choose their own routes between these checkpoints, they are encouraged to minimize road use for a safer and more enjoyable experience on the trails. Registration takes place at the Watersports Hub starting from 8:00 AM, where participants can collect race numbers and familiarize themselves with the area before setting off. The hub also offers toilet facilities, showers, and refreshments throughout the day, making it an ideal base for runners to relax between checkpoints or after completing their journey. The Sidmouth 4 Trigs Trail Race is not just a test of physical endurance; it’s a celebration of nature and community spirit. All proceeds from this event will benefit Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), a charity dedicated to preventing young sudden cardiac deaths through awareness, screening, research, and support for affected families. While runners must be at least 18 years old to participate, they are welcome to explore these picturesque trails on their own or with friends before or after the race. Dogs are not permitted on the course due to safety concerns but can join participants in the Watersports Hub area where facilities await them upon completion of the event. Marshals will be stationed at key points along the route near landmarks such as the Donkey Sanctuary, Sidbury, White Cross, and Four Elms to ensure a smooth race experience. These dedicated volunteers are there to assist runners and provide guidance when needed. All finishers can look forward to receiving a unique locally-made Welsh slate coaster, a fitting tribute to their achievement on this challenging yet rewarding trail run. For those who aim higher, completing the Sidmouth 4 Trigs as part of the Jurassic Triple Challenge by also finishing The Grizzly (Full) and The Exe 2 Axe in 2027 will earn them an exclusive set of commemorative coasters free of charge. Join us for a day filled with breathtaking views, personal challenges, and meaningful contributions to a vital cause.
