Slaley Hall Trail Runs – November 2026
For its eighth consecutive year, the Slaley Hall Trail Runs invites runners to explore the scenic beauty and historic charm of Hexham’s countryside. Whether you’re tackling your first trail run or training for a longer distance event, this race offers an experience that caters to all levels.
Set against the backdrop of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), Slaley Hall Hotel provides a picturesque starting point. The hotel is located on Coal Road in Hexham and spans over 1,000 acres of woodland and rolling hills, offering runners both tranquil forest paths and historic estate grounds to traverse.
The half marathon route covers an impressive distance of 13.1 miles, with the first seven miles winding through Slaley Forest’s majestic trees before looping back into the serene surroundings of Slaley Hall. The 10km race offers a single lap around the beautiful hotel grounds, showcasing its stunning architecture and lush landscape.
Both races start at 9:45am, providing ample opportunity for participants to soak in the atmosphere and appreciate the scenic setting prior to the run. Canicross enthusiasts are welcome too, with one well-controlled dog allowed per runner, though dogs must remain on a lead throughout the event.
Race timing is handled by Timing Up North, ensuring accurate results available instantly upon completion of your race. Upon crossing the finish line, all participants will receive an exclusive event medal and merchandise from Wild Deer, along with a hearty bacon sandwich or alternative option and a hot drink inside the hotel.
