The Smith Rock Classic takes place on Saturday, 30 May 2026 at Skull Hollow in Terrebonne, Oregon. This springtime event showcases the beauty of Smith Rock State Park with three distances: 50 Mile, 50K, and 10 Mile. The courses feature towering basalt cliffs, views of the nearby Cascade range, and miles in the Crooked River Grasslands beyond the park boundary. Registration closes on Thursday, 28 May 2026 at 11:59 PM PT.

The 50 Mile course consists of two 25-mile loops starting and finishing at Skull Hollow. The first loop takes runners to the saddle below Gray Butte, descending Burma Road to the river, following Wolf Tree Trail to the bridge, climbing to Smith Rock aid station, then returning via River Trail and Summit Trail back to Gray Butte. After a loop around Gray Butte and out into the grasslands, runners return to Skull Hollow via Cole Loop Trail, then repeat the entire route for the second loop.
The 50K course starts and finishes at Skull Hollow, climbing to the saddle below Gray Butte, descending Burma Road to the river, following Wolf Tree Trail to the bridge, then tackling the steep climb up Misery Ridge. Runners return via River Trail to Smith Rock aid station, then climb Summit Trail back to Gray Butte before looping around Gray Butte, heading into the grasslands, and finishing via Cole Loop Trail.
The 10 Mile course starts at Skull Hollow and follows single track up to the saddle where Gray Butte aid station sits at mile 2.8. Runners continue on the Gray Butte trail around the butte, then climb to the summit before taking the road back down to the saddle and returning via Cole Loop Trail. This distance offers spectacular views of Smith Rock and the Cascades.
All courses showcase Oregon's classic high desert terrain alongside the fantastic scenery of the high peaks of the Cascades. The towering basalt cliffs of Smith Rock State Park provide a dramatic backdrop throughout each distance.
Refund policy: There are no transfers to other runners with no exceptions. Runners who cancel registration more than 30 days prior to the race may opt for a 50% credit toward the same event the following year. Cancellations 30 days or less from race day receive no credit, no refund, and no transfer with no exceptions. If Alpine Running is forced to cancel a race for any reason (including but not limited to COVID-19, wildfires, air quality, natural disasters, or permitting agency closures) and the event cannot be feasibly rescheduled, refunds, race credits, and rollovers will not be given. All registration fees support a great race beneficiary.
