This demanding 24-mile route, with 3,900 feet of ascent, is a spectacular foray across the South Pennine moors, offering a true taste of the Dark Peak's wild terrain, from open, windswept fells to ancient packhorse routes, all with breathtaking, expansive views. Starting from the Dovestone Sailing Club in Greenfield, the event champions a flexible start between 8:00 and 9:00 AM, allowing participants to set their own pace across a fully-supported course with four well-stocked checkpoints. Embracing the traditional LDWA spirit, it combines a serious physical test with exceptional camaraderie, culminating in hot soup and a well-earned certificate at the finish. With an entry limit of 150, this is a coveted, intimate adventure for those who find solace and strength in the stark, majestic landscapes of winter.
