Kick off your triathlon season at the Southampton Fast Twitch Triathlon, an invigorating sprint race held inside the serene confines of New Forest National Park. This event challenges athletes with a compact yet intense course that includes a pool swim, bike ride through picturesque countryside, and a scenic run to the finish line.
The day begins with a 400-meter (16 lengths) indoor pool swim at Applemore Leisure Centre, setting the stage for an energetic morning start. Participants then transition into cycling gear for a 21-kilometer route that winds through the historic village of Beaulieu and beyond. The bike course offers stunning views of New Forest's diverse landscapes—from rolling heathlands to enchanting woodlands—where you might encounter grazing ponies, cows, donkeys, and even roaming pigs.
The run leg concludes the race with a 5-kilometer loop that takes runners through Dibden Purlieu. The route includes an uphill climb on Challenger Way before finishing in style along Roman Road. This event is designed to provide both novice triathletes looking for their first challenge and seasoned athletes seeking early-season training.
