Fall Frolic 4 Miler is an inviting trail running adventure that welcomes runners of all kinds for a day filled with scenic routes and playful challenges. Set against the backdrop of Wompatuck State Park, this November event offers three distinct ways to participate: the straightforward 4-mile loop, the endurance-driven 8-hour challenge, or the unique twist on Backyard Ultras. For those who prefer simplicity, the "I'm Just Here for a Good Time" option invites you to run one captivating 4-mile trail. This course winds through fall foliage and offers plenty of opportunities to pause and appreciate nature’s beauty. Whether your goal is speed or leisurely enjoyment, this loop caters to all paces. The 8-hour event takes endurance up a notch by allowing participants to tackle as many loops as they can manage in eight hours. With no strict pacing requirements, you have the freedom to run, rest, refuel, and repeat at your own pace. This format encourages experimentation with different running strategies or simply enjoying the camaraderie among fellow runners. The "Last Human Standing" variant offers a taste of Backyard Ultras without the pressure of elimination for missing cut-off times. Every hour, participants embark on another 4-mile loop, aiming to complete it before the next hour begins. However, if you're late returning, there's no penalty—just more time to enjoy the trails and fine-tune your pacing. No matter which option you choose, Fall Frolic is designed with comfort in mind. Drop bags can be left near the lap finish line for easy access during breaks. The community table will serve as a central hub of support, offering snacks, water, energy drinks, and more—perfectly complementing any runner’s needs. With mud likely to feature prominently on the trails by November, come prepared with extra socks or shoes if you’re sticking around all day in the 8-hour option. The race director, Jen Cavanagh, ensures that everyone feels supported throughout their journey, whether they're pushing themselves hard or savoring a leisurely stroll. Participants can also look forward to ample parking at the nearby transfer station and porta potties available on-site near the start/finish line. Packet pickup is conveniently offered both before race day and early morning registration for those who sign up last minute. Join us this fall as we celebrate trail running in its most relaxed and inclusive form, where every runner’s experience is valued and celebrated. For more details or questions about logistics such as parking instructions, suggested gear, and the exact location within Wompatuck State Park, visit our website or reach out to Jen directly. See you on the trails!
