Triathlon Scotland - Child Wellbeing & Protection in Sport
About the Event
Child Wellbeing & Protection in Sport - Online Workshop Monday, September 7, 2026 | 18:00-21:00 GMT The Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport workshop is a mandatory training session endorsed by all sports governing bodies. This comprehensive course aims to equip individuals who work with children and young athletes with the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure their safety and welfare. During this three-hour online webinar, participants will gain an understanding of how to identify signs of abuse and learn effective strategies for handling sensitive situations appropriately. The workshop is designed to enhance your ability to recognize good coaching practices and understand the implications they have on your work. You'll also explore personal values and feelings related to child protection issues, enabling you to respond more effectively in challenging scenarios. The course content includes: - Module 1: An online learning session through Brightspace that must be completed before attending the live webinar (approximately 1-2 hours). - Module 2: A three-hour interactive virtual classroom experience led by experienced tutors who will guide participants through discussions, breakout sessions, and practical activities. The virtual classroom environment allows for real-time interaction with instructors and fellow attendees. You can ask questions, participate in group discussions, view video content, and engage directly with the course material from your home or office. To join this workshop: - Two weeks prior to the event, you will receive an email from Brightspace titled 'sportscotland: Enrolment Confirmation' at d2lsupport@learninginsport.brightspace.com. - You'll also get joining instructions via email from Triathlon Scotland with a link for accessing the virtual classroom. Participants should have access to a computer (desktop or laptop), tablet, or smartphone and ensure they are connected to a stable internet connection. The course is best accessed using Chrome, Firefox, or Edge browsers; avoid Internet Explorer and Legacy Edge. Upon completion of both modules, you will need to fill out an evaluation survey on Brightspace to receive your certificate for Child Wellbeing & Protection in Sport training. If you encounter any technical difficulties with the platform, support resources are available through a dedicated Support Portal accessible from within Brightspace.
