Steeple Barton Chase

Welcome to the Steeple Barton Chase, an annual fun run that promises excitement and enjoyment for runners of all ages. This year's event takes place on Sunday, September 13th, with races starting at 10:30 AM.
The Steeple Barton Chase offers a variety of distances to cater to different preferences and skill levels. The main attractions are the challenging yet rewarding 10-kilometer run and the more relaxed 5-kilometer route, both featuring undulating terrain that combines country lanes, fields, woodland trails, and scenic private grounds around Barton Abbey Estate.
The longer distance is popular among seasoned runners who appreciate a mix of on-road and off-road running. The shorter option provides an equally enjoyable experience with its varied landscape and manageable elevation changes.
For those looking for something less strenuous but still fun-filled, the Fun Run offers multiple circuits around the local cricket ground, perfect for families and beginners alike.
Entry fees are as follows: £20 for the 10K run, £15 for the 5K (with a reduced rate of £7.50 for participants under 16), and just £5 for the Fun Run. On-the-day entries incur an additional charge of £2 per person.
The event kicks off with the Fun Run at 10:30 AM, followed by the 10K run starting promptly at 11:00 AM, and finally, the 5K run beginning shortly after at 11:05 AM. All proceeds from this year's Steeple Barton Chase will go towards maintaining the historic and beloved Steeple Barton Church.
