Stitch, Sip, & Support returns to Aurora, Colorado on June 24th, inviting runners and craft enthusiasts alike to come together for a unique blend of creativity and community spirit. This event is more than just an afternoon activity; it’s a chance to learn new skills while supporting Girls on the Run of the Rockies, a program that empowers young girls through running and self-discovery.
The heart of Aurora in early summer offers a vibrant backdrop for Stitch, Sip, & Support. The air carries hints of blooming wildflowers as participants gather at a local community center to unwind from their day-to-day routines with some hands-on crafting. Whether it’s the soft glow of evening sunlight filtering through windows or the lively chatter among friends and strangers alike, this event encapsulates the essence of Aurora during late spring.
This year marks Stitch, Sip, & Support's third iteration in a row, drawing over 200 enthusiastic participants each time. Since its inception, it has become more than just an annual tradition; it’s a cornerstone for community bonding and empowerment. Every ticket sold goes directly toward funding Girls on the Run of the Rockies, ensuring that future generations of girls can benefit from this transformative program.
The venue for Stitch, Sip, & Support is situated in Aurora's heart, offering a spacious yet cozy environment perfect for crafting and socializing. The layout allows participants to move freely between different activity stations where they can engage with embroidery kits, fabric paints, and other materials needed to create their very own tote bags and bag charms. Notable features include well-lit workspaces and ample seating areas designed specifically for comfort.
Start times vary slightly depending on individual preferences; however, most crafters opt to begin crafting as early as 3 PM when the weather is still mild but not too hot. Aid stations are strategically placed throughout the venue, providing refreshments such as snacks and sips both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Special features include a designated area for displaying completed crafts alongside interactive workshops led by experienced artisans.
Participants can expect comfortable temperatures ranging from 13.8°C to 27.2°C with an average temperature of around 20.5°C, which feels just right due to moderate humidity levels at about 51.9%. The chance of rain is minimal, averaging only 2.9mm throughout the day, ensuring that outdoor activities remain dry and pleasant. Given the typically sunny conditions in Aurora during June—with approximately 12 hours and 11 minutes of sunshine—the hard and dry trail surface will provide ideal footing for those who venture outside to explore.
