The Stockholm Open Water Race invites swimmers of all levels to dive into the picturesque Järlasjön lake in Nacka for an enjoyable and safe aquatic adventure. Whether you choose the 1900-meter or 3800-meter course, this event offers a unique opportunity to experience swimming in one of Sweden's most beautiful natural settings.
Participants need not be members of any organization nor hold specific licenses; all that is required is a sense of fun and good health to complete the chosen distance. The race takes place on open water, primarily using freestyle strokes, providing an exhilarating challenge amidst serene surroundings.
Registration opens at 5:30 PM with check-in closing promptly at 6:00 PM. A brief meeting will be held at 6:10 PM followed by the start of the race at 6:30 PM sharp. Swimmers are encouraged to warm up both in and out of the water before the event, which helps prevent cramps and prepares the body for higher exertion levels.
The venue is located on Järla Gårdsväg 55, Nacka (131 61), with parking available nearby within the residential area. Participants can also look forward to a light snack included in their registration fee along with pre-drawn prizes awarded at check-in.

The municipality's name harks back to a 16th-century industrial operation established by the Crown at Nacka farmstead where conditions for water mills are good. However, and somewhat confusingly, that spot is not densely populated today and the municipal seat is on land that once belonged to Järla farmstead on the other side of Lake Järla.
