Orange Shirt Run/Walk 2026 Edmonton

About the Event

On Sunday, September 27th, join the community for the 6th Annual Run/Walk, an inspiring tribute honoring Indigenous children who did not survive Canada's Residential school era. This poignant event also supports survivors and their ongoing fight for healing and justice.
The run/walk will take place along the picturesque YEG river valley trails, starting at Kinsmen Park in Edmonton. Participants can choose from three distances: a 5 km route, a challenging 10 km course that winds through both pavement and rugged trail sections, or an Elder/Kids-friendly 2.15 km loop designed specifically for younger runners and those with mobility concerns.
Proceeds will benefit orangeshirtday.org and local grassroots movements dedicated to promoting Indigenous athletes and initiatives. The event not only commemorates the thousands of children whose lives were lost but also amplifies their voices by raising awareness about unmarked gravesites near former residential schools across Canada.
This year, as in previous years, everyone is welcome to participate regardless of age or background. By joining this meaningful run/walk, you contribute to a broader conversation on truth and reconciliation. Let's come together to ensure that the message "Every Child Matters" resonates far beyond these trails, fostering a future where Indigenous rights are upheld and justice prevails.
