Sunapee Scramble

The Sunapee Scramble takes place on Sunday, June 7, 2026, starting at 9:00 AM from the base of Mount Sunapee at 1398 New Hampshire Route 103 in Sunapee, New Hampshire, USA. This event serves as the 2026 USATF National Classic Mountain Championship and the sole selection race for the 2026 US Classic Up/Down Mountain Running Team, featuring a 9.2-mile course with 3,250 feet of vertical gain, a $30,000 prize purse presented by Brooks Running, and separate starts for men and women.

Event Logistics and Participant Information:

• Weekend Schedule: Saturday, June 6 – Early bib pickup at The Shanty Pub from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Course available for preview. Sunday, June 7 – Bib pickup starts at 7:30 AM.
• No Day of Registration: There is no race day registration available.
• Award and After Party: Held at the Sunapee Base Lodge following the race.
• Prize Purse: $30,000 prize purse presented by Brooks Running.

Route and Atmosphere:

• Course Description – Lap 1: The course starts at the base of the mountain and follows a service road up to the summit, then a speedy descent down Mount Sunapee back to the Base Lodge.
• Course Description – Lap 2: The same service road up the mountain, then joins the super technical Newbury Trail all the way to the summit, followed by another speedy descent back to the Base Lodge.
• Scenic Highlights: Mount Sunapee offers classic New England mountain terrain, with summit views, technical trails, and fast descents.
• Terrain: Mix of service road climbs and technical singletrack (Newbury Trail), with approximately 3,250 feet of elevation gain over 9.2 miles.
