We are on a mission to save lives! And we're not being dramatic! Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the U.S.––even when stacked against all other cancers combined! Although more than 2 people in the U.S. die of skin cancer every hour, there's hope: when skin cancer is detected early, there is a 99% survival rate! We fulfill our mission through education and research!

Education = Power!
- We believe in empowering our community through education about skin cancer and proper sunscreen usage. In addition to providing educational information, we provide free skin cancer screenings performed by our very own UM dermatologists!
Research = Our Future!
- It is through research that more efficient diagnostic tools and better treatments become possible. That's why our event proceeds are donated to the University of Miami’s Dr. Philip Frost Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery and Sylvester Cancer Center's groundbreaking skin cancer research

Course Info:

We are excited to host SunSmart5K at arguably the most beautiful park in Florida--Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park! The park entrance fee is included in race registration. Race participants are welcome to enjoy amenities of the park following the race.

About Key Biscayne

Learn more about the host city, Key Biscayne.

Key Biscayne refers to both a tropical island just southeast of Miami and a village on that island. The Village of Key Biscayne, incorporated on June 18, 1991, is in the center of the four-mile-long, two-mile-wide barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay. The wonderful tropical island is very quiet and mostly residential. Key Biscayne Island, which is south of South Beach, is the first island of the Florida Keys. Beaches are spectacular, the landscaping is lush and waterfront activities are plenty. Some consider it the best area to feel like you are in the islands while being in Miami.
