Embark on the fifth edition of the piki 50, an exhilarating mountain biking challenge set within Totara Park in Manukau, Auckland. This year’s race promises to be more challenging than ever before, with the inclusion of newly developed trails that extend the course length and add to its already formidable reputation. Scheduled for Saturday, November 21st, 2026, this event offers a unique blend of scenic beauty and technical difficulty. The day begins at 7:30 AM when gates open, allowing participants ample time to collect their race plates between 7:30 and 9:00 AM. An essential rider briefing for EBike users takes place just before the start at 8:55 AM, followed by a separate briefing for those tackling either the piki25 or piki50 routes at 9:10 AM. The race kicks off with an electrifying start for EBikes and then proceeds to welcome participants on two-wheeled adventures. The longest lap of approximately 14 kilometers features steep climbs totaling around 350 meters, making it a true test of endurance and skill as riders navigate through the diverse terrain of Totara Park. For those who complete the grueling piki50 route—a total distance of roughly 56 kilometers spanning four laps—there’s more than just personal satisfaction; you’ll also receive a custom finisher's medal to commemorate your achievement. The shorter but equally demanding piki25, covering about 28 kilometers in two laps, offers its own set of challenges and rewards. Prize-giving ceremonies will take place around midday for the 25km events and late afternoon for those who complete the full distance, ensuring a celebratory atmosphere throughout. The event concludes at 3:00 PM when gates close, marking the end of an unforgettable day in the saddle. With entry fees starting as low as $15 for U19 participants (and significantly less for EBike riders), this is your chance to push yourself against some of Auckland's most formidable terrain. Whether you're a seasoned pro or looking to test your limits on new trails, the piki 50 promises an unforgettable experience in one of New Zealand’s premier cycling destinations.
