On April 18th, you will have the opportunity to transform a bike ride in the Pisa area into an experience to be lived with all your senses — among olive oil, chocolate, and the finest local specialties… with a surprising finale, where the day meets the sea. This day embodies the spirit of the permanent Terre di Pisa Bike Trail, where cyclists explore some of the most beautiful and authentic corners of the Pisan territory, discovering stories and tasting flavors that make this land truly unique.
The Program:
The ride begins at Giardino Scotto, the heart of the Bike Days festival, at 11:00 a.m. The route gently leaves the city behind, following quiet secondary roads, bike paths, and stretches of white gravel as the horizon slowly begins to open up. After passing Pontedera, birthplace of the legendary Vespa, we enter the heart of the hills, heading toward the protagonist of the day: Monte Serra, the iconic mountain overlooking the Pisan plain. We’ll reach it by riding through soft green hills along roads that truly feel like Tuscany, until a special stop in Vicopisano — land of exceptional olive oil and living tradition — where our first gourmet break awaits in one of the region’s most renowned olive mills. Then comes the challenge: the climb to Monte Verruca. A scenic 7-kilometer ascent with spectacular views over Pisa and the sea. It begins on smooth asphalt before turning into gravel — nature, effort, silence, and beauty — the moment when the day becomes unforgettable. After a well-deserved panoramic break, we descend on gravel toward Calci and then return to Pisa along quiet countryside roads and the evocative route of the ancient aqueduct, riding back into the city. But the day doesn’t end there. We’ll take the Trammino cycle path and let our pedals carry us straight to the sea, for a surprising finale on the beach with an aperitivo — the perfect way to celebrate a day fully lived, between cycling, territory, and shared moments.
