Terror of Tammany is set to unleash its formidable challenge on runners seeking an intense trail experience at the heart of Worthington State Forest, just after the Mt. Tammany 10 race. This grueling event offers two challenging distances: a 30K and a more demanding 50K+ route. The course is designed as a rugged 6.7-mile loop with an approximate vertical ascent of 1,750 feet per lap. The 30K distance comprises three loops, catering to newer trail runners while still providing a daunting technical challenge. Meanwhile, the 50K+ event stretches over five grueling laps, pushing even seasoned ultrarunners to their limits. Participants will start at the campground area in Worthington State Forest early on race day and face steep climbs and sharp descents along the way. The terrain is both scenic and treacherous, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding wilderness while testing every runner’s endurance and skill. For those tackling the 30K distance, a generous nine-hour time limit provides ample opportunity to navigate this challenging course. All finishers will receive an official award upon completion by 15:00 PM. The more ambitious runners who opt for the 50K+ route must adhere to a strict twelve-hour deadline and face a critical cut-off at the start of their final lap, which closes at 16:00 PM. Both distances offer finishers awards to commemorate their achievement. Race day begins with check-in from 5:15 AM until 6:00 AM, followed by race instructions given just before the start time. Post-race meals will be available for all participants starting at 3:15 PM after the official conclusion of both races. Terror of Tammany promises an unforgettable and demanding adventure through some of New Jersey’s most challenging terrain, perfect for those looking to push their limits in a scenic setting.
