Join the vibrant community of Quincy for its annual Terry Anastas Tour de Quincy, a fun-filled cycling event that offers something for every cyclist. The event takes place on Saturday, July 11th, with registration and t-shirt pickup opening at 8:30 AM. Participants can choose from two exciting routes or opt for the family-friendly ride along the Bill Klingner Trail. For those seeking an adventure, the Tour de Quincy offers a choice between a longer route of 24 miles and a shorter one of 12 miles. Each chosen path includes five stops at local bars and restaurants where participants will collect poker run tickets stamped by staff before returning to The Dock for their final stamp and prize draw. The family-friendly ride is an ideal option, covering seven paved miles on the Bill Klingner Trail. This route provides a scenic experience through nature trails like Nature Trails East, All America Mountain Bike Park, and Gardner Park. Cyclists will enjoy a peaceful journey away from vehicle traffic, making it perfect for families with children or those new to cycling. From 10:45 AM until 2:00 PM, free barbecue lunch is available at The Dock, where participants can support the Friends of the Trails by donating what they feel. At 2:00 PM, winners of the poker run will be announced and receive their prizes based on the highest poker hands. The event also features a 50/50 raffle draw to add some excitement for all attendees. T-shirts are included in every participant’s package; early online registration by June 10 guarantees your size, while event day registrations ensure you still get a shirt but may have limited options due to availability on a first-come, first-served basis. The Dock at 1021 Bonansinga Dr, Quincy, IL 62301 serves as the central location for all activities. This venue offers ample parking and is conveniently connected to Kesler Park where bikes can be stored or retrieved. The event atmosphere will be lively with refreshments available throughout. Register online now to secure your spot in this community-driven cycling festival that supports trail development, aiming to raise $24,000 for the Bill Klingner Trail and nature trails. Don’t miss out on a day of camaraderie, fun, and adventure! A special thank you goes to all our sponsors who make events like these possible.
