The 2026 Run for Education

About the Event

Join us for the annual Run for Education on Sunday, October 11, 2026, starting at Iron Horse Middle School in San Ramon. This year's race offers a variety of distances to suit runners and families alike: the 5K, 10K, Mini Run, Friendship Run, and an exciting new addition – the 1.5 Mile Family Walk/Run.
The event kicks off with the familiar routes and introduces a shorter course for younger participants or those looking for a family-friendly run. The 5K and 10K races will see runners starting from Charlotte Wood Middle School in Danville, concluding at Iron Horse Middle School in San Ramon. Participants can expect a scenic route through the picturesque neighborhoods of both cities.
For our youngest athletes ages 2 to 6, we have the Mini Run, designed as an engaging and fun experience. The Friendship Run is tailored for runners with special needs, offering a supportive environment where everyone can walk or run at their own pace.
The new location at Iron Horse Middle School promises enhanced facilities and amenities, making it easier than ever to enjoy this community event. Be sure to visit the Expo for Education from 8am to 12pm on race day; it will be your chance to explore educational resources and connect with local organizations dedicated to supporting our schools.
Safety is a top priority at Run for Education. Participants under 14 must run or walk accompanied by an adult, ensuring everyone's safety throughout the course. Bicycles and dogs are not allowed on the race route to maintain a controlled environment.
T-shirts will be provided for Mini Run, Friendship Run, 5K, and 10K registrants, including both short-sleeve cotton shirts and souvenir medals. Ten-Kilometer runners can opt for long-sleeved tech shirts as well. Sign up early by September 15 to secure your preferred size at one of our pre-race packet pickups.
All proceeds from the Run for Education support vital educational initiatives through the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation (SRVEF). Every registration generates a personal fundraising page, allowing participants to raise funds directly for their chosen school or contribute to district-wide programs. The SRVEF splits donations between schools and broader district needs, ensuring that every dollar raised makes a significant impact.
