Experience The 2027 Cowtown Marathon, celebrating its rich history as the longest-running multi-event race in North Texas. Since its inception in 1979 with just two distances—10K and Full Marathon—the event has expanded to include a vibrant mix of running options.
In 1998, The 5K was introduced, quickly gaining popularity among local runners due to its family-friendly nature and over 5,000 participants in the inaugural year. In 2003, The Kids 5K joined the lineup, making it a must-attend for families with young children. By 2005, The Half Marathon was added, attracting seasoned athletes looking for an extra challenge.
The Ultra Marathon, introduced in 2008, marked Cowtown's milestone of three decades and pushed boundaries further. Today, participants can choose from five distances—10K, Full Marathon, 5K, Kids 5K, and Half Marathon—and enjoy the diverse terrain that North Texas has to offer.
Beyond just a race weekend, The C.A.L.F. (Children’s Activities for Life and Fitness) Program is a cornerstone of Cowtown's community engagement efforts. Launched in 2009, this initiative spans across 16 school districts and serves approximately 5,000 students annually. It provides essential support by offering grants for new running shoes to low-income children and discounted race entries for youth participants.
Since its inception, The C.A.L.F. Program has made a significant impact, donating over 65,000 pairs of shoes and helping countless students achieve their first 5K finish line.
