The 37th Kilburn Kanter

The 37th Kilburn Kanter, set for Saturday, November 7th, invites participants to explore the rugged beauty of the Hambleton Hills with a challenging 24-mile walk featuring an impressive ascent of 3,500 feet. With a generous time limit of ten hours, this event offers both seasoned hikers and enthusiastic walkers the chance to experience some of Yorkshire's most captivating landscapes.
Registration begins at 6:30 AM at Kilburn Village Institute (GR SE 514 795), where participants will gather before setting off. The mass walk starts promptly at 8:00 AM, while runners get a head start with an earlier departure time of 7:50 AM.
Entry fees are £13 for members of the Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA) and £20 for non-members. With limited spots available—only 200 entries in total—and no on-the-day registrations, early booking is essential to secure a place. Participants should note that there will be no refunds after October 1st, with a handling fee of £2.00 applied to all refund requests.
The Kilburn Kanter prides itself on being dog-free during the event for everyone's safety and enjoyment. Refreshments are provided along the route, but participants are encouraged to bring their own mug to help reduce waste. Additionally, each walker will receive a certificate or badge upon completion of this grueling yet rewarding journey through the scenic hills.
