Welcome to the Barnyard Backyard Ultra, where runners gather not just for competition but also to celebrate community and compassion. This unique ultramarathon takes place at Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary, an idyllic setting that combines breathtaking scenery with a heartwarming cause. The race format is simple yet challenging: every hour, participants must complete a 4.167-mile loop known as the "Yard." Runners who finish ahead of schedule must return to the starting line by the next hour mark to remain eligible for subsequent loops. The event continues until only one runner remains standing, earning them the title and coveted buckle of 'GOAT'—the Greatest Of All Time. Luvin Arms is more than just a race venue; it’s a sanctuary where rescued farmed animals live out their lives in peace. As you run through this tranquil landscape, you'll encounter a diverse community of creatures such as Jale the horse, Dali the donkey, Tendu the potbelly pig, and many others who will undoubtedly add an extra layer of charm to your journey. The course itself is designed for runners of all abilities. With minimal elevation gain per loop—less than 200 feet—and a mix of dirt trails, grassy paths, and gravel roads, it offers a runnable terrain that’s both enjoyable and challenging. The Rocky Mountains provide an awe-inspiring backdrop as you circle the sanctuary. Supporting your efforts is a central aid station stocked with essential supplies like bananas, oranges, bread & peanut butter sandwiches, pretzels, and Neversecond C30 Forest Berry Sports Drink to keep you fueled throughout the event. Remember to bring your own hydration gear since this is a cupless race setup designed to minimize waste. For those who need a break from the elements or just a moment of respite, there's a warming hut at the main hub area where runners can rest and recharge before heading back out onto the course. The event offers participants an opportunity to set up camp in designated areas near the sanctuary visitor center, allowing for easy access between loops to manage nutrition, hydration, gear changes, and much-needed rest. Join us on October 24th, 2026, as we celebrate running’s spirit of camaraderie while contributing positively to a compassionate cause. All participants who complete 100 miles or run continuously for 24 hours will earn an exclusive medal recognizing their incredible achievement. Experience the joy and challenge that awaits at the Barnyard Backyard Ultra—where every step is not just towards victory but also towards making a difference in the lives of rescued animals.
