Embrace the chill of winter at The Billing race, an unapologetic celebration of Britain's coldest season. This 14km trail adventure begins and ends at Rawdon Cricket Club on Larkfield Road, Leeds LS19 6DZ, with a challenging course that takes you through fields, public footpaths, and the unique terrain around Leeds Bradford Airport. The race kicks off promptly at noon after registration opens at 11:00 AM. With an elevation gain of approximately 277 meters, runners will tackle two ascents up The Billing hill, which is known for its unforgiving winter conditions. After conquering The Billing's summit twice, the course winds through Yeadon and loops around the airport perimeter fence, providing a unique perspective on this industrial landscape. While there are no water stations along the route, participants are encouraged to bring their own hydration supplies. Race HQ offers facilities including toilets, bag storage, and car parking for convenience. Trail shoes are essential due to the varied terrain and winter conditions. For those who want to personalize their race experience, optional extras such as medals or t-shirts can be added during registration. Additionally, a 'Trees not Tees' donation option allows runners to contribute towards tree planting initiatives instead of receiving an extra shirt. All participants must carry windproof/waterproof jackets for the unpredictable winter weather and are advised to bring spare shoes and clothing suitable for changing into after the race. The car park at Race HQ is carpeted, so muddy boots won't be allowed inside!
