Brutal Extreme Triathlon September 19th, 2026 | Llanberis, North Wales Prepare for one of the world's most challenging triathlons nestled amidst the breathtaking beauty of Snowdonia. The Brutal Extreme Triathlon offers a grueling yet rewarding course that combines stunning natural scenery with rigorous physical demands. The event begins in Lake Padarn, where participants plunge into its chilly waters for either half or full distances. Swimmers will complete multiple laps depending on their chosen category, before exiting to transition and gearing up for the bike leg. Riders then face a 28-mile loop that features steep climbs over Pen y Pass and exhilarating descents back towards Llanberis. The route offers panoramic views of Snowdonia's dramatic landscapes, with weather conditions varying dramatically from one part of the course to another, testing riders' resilience against wind and rain. After the bike leg comes a run that circles Lake Padarn before ascending Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), Wales’s highest mountain. Runners will tackle undulating trails, rocky paths, and even waterfalls en route to Snowdon's summit via the Llanberis Path—a clear and well-defined trail leading to awe-inspiring views from atop. The Brutal Extreme Triathlon caters to a range of distances: Half (Canol), Full (Mawr), Double (Cawr), and Triple (Goron). Each offers unique challenges, whether you're a seasoned triathlete or looking for your first taste of extreme endurance racing. Support crews are required only for the double and triple events. The event is renowned not just for its physical demands but also for its warm and supportive atmosphere among competitors and volunteers alike. Whether it's your first race or twentieth, expect to be cheered on throughout each leg by fellow athletes and locals who appreciate the spirit of this challenging endeavor. Registration opens from 16:00 till 20:00 at the main marquee on Friday for those attending the briefing sessions (Half/Full Brutal from 19:00, Double/Triple plus crew from 20:00).
