Welcome to The Drop, an unparalleled navigation challenge that strips away every comfort and certainty you might expect from a traditional race. This is not about following marked trails or relying on clear directions; it’s about embracing the unknown. Participants are taken to an undisclosed location some distance from the event center—10 miles for the shorter option and 15 miles for those seeking a more rigorous experience—and must find their way back without any maps, GPS devices, or other navigation aids. The Drop challenges runners to rely on their wits, instincts, and sheer determination. The core challenge offers two distances: - Drop 6: This is exclusively designed for participants who are not locals in the area. With a distance of just six miles as measured by a bird's-eye view, this option emphasizes fairness by eliminating any advantage that local knowledge might provide.
- 10 Mile Drop and 15 Mile Drop: Both these challenges drop runners at an undisclosed location either 10 or 15 miles away from the event center. The route back is entirely up to you; it could involve running, walking, or even crawling over varied terrain. Upon registration, participants must surrender all electronic devices, watches, and navigation aids in exchange for a sealed emergency bag that they carry throughout their journey. This ensures no external assistance can be relied upon during the challenge. The deployment phase involves boarding a bus with blackout blindfolds (or approved alternatives) to reach an unknown drop-off point. Once off the bus, runners must navigate back on foot alone and without any guidance from organizers or fellow participants. The only equipment provided is your race number and the emergency bag. While this event tests physical endurance, it primarily challenges mental resilience by stripping away all familiar markers of direction and distance. Each decision made along the way—from choosing which path to take to deciding when to rest—is entirely up to you. Live GPS tracking can be optionally enabled for those seeking an added layer of safety or wanting their journey shared with friends and family in real-time. However, this feature is not included in the entry fee and must be returned at the end of the event to avoid a replacement charge. The Drop invites runners who are ready to face uncertainty head-on and discover if they can find their way home when all familiar signs have vanished. It’s an experience that pushes beyond physical limits into uncharted territories within oneself, making it truly unforgettable for those brave enough to take part. This event is not about following a set path but rather staying calm in the face of uncertainty—can you navigate your way back?
