The Hybrid Heart: 5K & 10K Trail Race

This event is dedicated in memory of Carole Rocheleau and aims to raise funds for the Ottawa Cancer Foundation.
The race weekend kicks off with bib pickup at Wesley Clover Parks on Saturday, October 24th, where participants can collect their race numbers and explore the vibrant Race Village filled with vendor activations from community partners. The event culminates on Sunday morning when runners of all abilities take to the trails for a scenic journey through Ottawa's natural beauty.
The day begins early at 8:00 am as the Race Village opens its doors, welcoming participants and spectators alike. At 9:00 am sharp, the starting gun signals the start of the 5K race, followed by the slightly longer but equally challenging 10K event beginning just twenty minutes later.
The trail route winds through picturesque landscapes within Wesley Clover Parks, offering runners breathtaking views and an invigorating challenge on a mix of terrain that includes gentle hills and flat stretches. Both races are designed to be accessible for beginners and seasoned athletes alike, ensuring everyone can enjoy the experience while supporting a worthy cause.
Post-race festivities include awards presentations at 11:00 am recognizing top finishers in various categories, followed by an afternoon celebration concluding around 1:00 pm. The event not only celebrates athletic achievement but also fosters community spirit and unity among participants and supporters.
Hybrid Heart was initiated to honor Carole Rocheleau, the mother of Race Director Tyler Booth, who passed away after battling cancer. In her memory, Tyler's teammates rallied together, raising over $26,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society in tribute to their shared journey with Carole. This year’s event continues that legacy by dedicating all net proceeds from race registrations and fundraising efforts directly to the Ottawa Cancer Foundation.
